The Lake Erie North Stars U13B team headed to Detroit this past weekend for their first tournament of the season. In their first game against Amherst Knights AA, the team pulled out a 1-0 win on the strong play of Jaxson Udvari in net and Jack Epplett who scored the game winner. Their second game was against the Tecumseh Eagles with the team winning a scrappy game 4-2. The team got excellent goaltending from Carter Russell and balanced scoring from all three forward lines, including Everett Coussens, Cooper Warkentin, Owen Irvine and Thomas Larsen. In the third game, excellent goaltending kept the game close for the Lambton Shores Predators. Zach Hammond opened the scoring to give the team the lead early, but they could not score again and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. In the finals, the North Stars faced Lambton Shores again, altering their game plan to make it very difficult for the Predators goalie. Grayson Bart dominated the front of the net scoring two and assisting on a goal from Caden Weber. Cooper Warkentin sniped one from an impossible angle to seal the victory. Bart won the MVP for the finals. The tournament was an excellent display of hockey as the team only allowed 4 goals in the tournament, had 7 different goal scorers and 13 players ending up on the scoresheet.
