U21 A Head Coach
Who are you and what do you do?
Dennis “Tree” Emerson, a longtime volunteer coach and former board member with AMHA.
Why did you become a coach?
I started out coaching my daughter and then my son when they were younger. Over the last two decades
I have been a parent and non-parent coach from teaching beginner skating all the way up to winning
OMHA titles with the 02 bantams and U21 Team
Showcase Expertise:
I have been coaching for over 20 years. Multiple appearances in the OMHA/OHF Finals. 2 OMHA
Championships.
Highlight coaching achievements.
Getting the juvenile program back up and running in AMHA and turning it into a very successful program
in the 7 years I have been with the team. One finals appearance and 1 OMHA Red Hat.
What do you specialize in?
Team/Player management. I surround myself with great staff and recognize that I am coaching adults
who want to be treated like adults. I also pride myself on the working relationships I have created with
several of the Junior C teams over the year to promote player advancement and AP opportunities.
I am a positive coach that lets the players play. I demand disciplined play and allow creativity in the
game.
